Tanner Mullens handed USMTS prize after Sanders DQ at Scotland County

MEMPHIS, Mo.—Night one of the Jon Fuller Memorial at the Scotland County Speedway delivered the kind of drama fans rarely expect from the Summit Racing Equipment USMTS presented by RacinDirt.com, as Tanner Mullens was officially awarded the victory after post-race technical inspection.

The evening began with Shadren Turner setting the pace as the Hodges Farms & Dredging Quick Time award winner for Night One of the 12th Annual Mid America Nationals. Turner continued his strong start by capturing Simpson Race Products Heat Race #1.

When the A-Main went green, Turner looked strong early and led laps before trouble struck. A push entering the corner ended up bringing out the Aero Race Wheels caution flag and handing the lead to Justin Zeitner. Zeitner paced the field for several circuits before Cade Dillard charged to the front.

Dillard looked to have the race in hand after leading six laps, but disaster hit when he cut down a right rear tire, ending his bid for victory. That opened the door for six-time USMTS National Champion Rodney Sanders, who inherited the lead and crossed the stripe first.

However, following post-race inspection, the No. 20 machine was disqualified for being over-indexed in the left rear, elevating Mullens to his second USMTS victory of the 2026 season.

“We definitely hate winning races like that, and we really hate it for Rodney as we race with him night in and night out. We will take this win as it helps our points run and move on to the next event,” said Mullens.

Reece Solander advanced to finish second, followed by Zeitner in third and Jim Chisholm in fourth.

Hard charger honors from FK Rod Ends went to Brandon Davis, who rebounded from heat race troubles and starting 25th to charge all the way to fifth. Kyle Brown impressed with a run from 14th to sixth, while Zack VanderBeek climbed from 18th to seventh.

The USMTS stars will return to Scotland County Speedway Saturday night for Round Two of the Jon Fuller Memorial, where another $5,000 payday awaits the winner. Fans can follow all the latest updates and race coverage on the official USMTS social media platforms.
