CALIFORNIA, Mo.—The clay is prepped, the wings are bolted on, and the grandstands are ready. The 2026

season of Sunday Night Thunder officially roared to life tonight at Double X Speedway, bringing high-speed excitement back to the quarter-mile oval in the heart of Central Missouri. Drivers and fans alike took advantage of the great evening weather to join together in what has become a tradition for over 35 years.

Fans were treated to a full slate of racing action featuring the always-thrilling 360 Winged Sprint Cars, the hard-nosed Super Stocks, and the ultra-competitive B Modifieds, as drivers from across the region battled for early-season bragging rights. Several travelling drivers joined us for

opening night in the Sprint Car Division which was a treat for the fans in attendance. With 15 Super Stocks signed in, track owners Kyle & Carol Wirts added money to first place and an anonymous donor added an extra $50.  Second place also received a bonus due to car count.

Feature Winners:

·       360 Winged Sprint Cars: Jack Wagner, Lone Jack, MO

·      Super Stocks: Darin Porter, California, MO

Heat Race Winners:

edge-of-your-seat moments that define dirt track racing. The 360 Sprint Cars put on a high-flying show, while the Super Stocks and B Modifieds delivered door-to-door battles that kept the crowd engaged all night long.

“This is what Sunday nights are all about,” said track owner Kyle Wirts. “Great racing, great fans, and a family-friendly atmosphere that keeps this tradition alive year after year.”
