See the “Track Tribute to Knoxville Raceway” on Your Next Visit
KNOXVILLE, Ia.—The National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum in Knoxville, Iowa, hopes to see you this summer for our “Track Tribute to Knoxville Raceway” exhibit! The exhibit, is currently on display through October 1, and features the cars, memorabilia, and much more from the “Sprint Car Capital of the World,” Knoxville Raceway!
Some famous rides of some of the best that ever ran at Knoxville and several items of memorabilia are exhibited in honor of the famous Knoxville, Iowa half-mile. In addition, videos showcasing the track, and memorabilia are also part of the exhibit.
The cars on display this summer include the Earl Wagner Supermodified #77 Pink Lady, the 1976 Knoxville Nationals winning Eddie Leavitt #4J Sprint Car from 50 years ago. the 1984 Knoxville Nationals winning Weikert’s #29 driven by Doug Wolfgang, the 1984 Bob Derry owned #22 driven by Danny Lasoski to his first win, the 1986 Daryl Arend’s #1A driven by Terry McCarl to his first win, the 1987 Coors Light Silver Bullet #11 driven by Steve Kinser to a Knoxville Nationals win, the 2023 Brian Brown Racing #21 driven by Brian Brown, and the 2025 Knoxville Nationals winning Liebig #10 driven by Ryan Timms. We are also soon expecting the 1991 TMC #1 driven by David Hesmer to the first 360 Nationals title.
“Knoxville Raceway is the undisputed ‘Sprint Car Capital of the World’ and the reason the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum was built on the grounds,” says Museum Coordinator, Bill Wright. “First built in 1878 as a horse track, it has seen immense changes and improvements. It was hard to narrow down what we would have for our tribute, but I think our guests will get a real feel for the Knoxville Raceway, and hopefully, it will bring back many memories. We’d be remiss if we didn’t thank Jeff Miller, Butch Smith, the Museum of American Speed in Lincoln, Nebraska, Ron Fick, Danny Lasoski, Bob Jones, Brian Brown, Terry McCarl, Frosty Harrington, Shane Liebig, David Hesmer, Ron Rees, Trevor Boyd, Sawyer Phillips and everyone else for making this exhibit a great one on the 65th Anniversary of the Knoxville Nationals!
