GEORGETOWN, Del.—Fans in the Delmarva peninsula will be treated to a mega-event this week, as two of the top dirt racing series in the country visit Delaware.
The Super DIRTcar Series will visit Georgetown Speedway in Georgetown, DE, on Wednesday, May 13, as part of the Delaware Diamond Clash with the World of Outlaws Late Models Series presented by DIRTVision.
Big Block drivers will compete in the Millman’s Napa Auto Parts Delaware Diamond 50, a 50-lap Feature paying $7,500-to-win.
The mega-event will have a NASCAR flair to it, as NASCAR Cup Series star Christopher Bell will make his Super DIRTcar Series debut, and Hall of Famer Donnie Allison will be the event’s Grand Marshal.

Here’s a look at what to watch for at Georgetown:
Bell’s Debut: NASCAR Cup Series star Christopher Bell will make his Big Block Modified and Georgetown Speedway debut on Wednesday, driving the No. 62 car for Halmar-Friesen Racing – a teammate to Stewart Friesen.
While it’ll be Bell’s first Big Block event, he’s far from inexperienced on dirt. The Norman, OK driver has won in about everything he’s climbed in, including six victories with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series, a USAC Silver Crown victory, five wins with the American Sprint Car Series, and over 50 victories in a dirt Midget – three being Chili Bowl Nationals titles.
Bell has the chance to join Ken Schrader and Geoff Bodine as NASCAR Cup Series winners who’ve won a Super DIRTcar Series Feature. He can also join Stewart Friesen and Schrader as drivers who’ve won a World of Outlaws Sprint Car and a Super DIRTcar Series Feature.
Leading the Charge: After one race of the 2026 Super DIRTcar Series Championship Season, three-time champion Mat Williamson is off to a strong start with his win at Albany-Saratoga Speedway.
The St. Catharines, ON driver enters Georgetown with the Series points lead, and returns to a track where he won in 2022. In last year’s Super DIRTcar Series stop, Williamson finished fourth en route to earning the Series championship.
A win by “Money Mat” this week would be the 39th Super DIRTcar Series win of his career, breaking a tie with Bob McCreadie for seventh on the all-time wins list.
Back on Track: The last time the Series visited Georgetown, Alex Payne and Tim Sears Jr. delivered a thrilling battle that Payne eventually won.
This time, both drivers are aiming to get back on track after a tough start to the 2026 season. Despite winning three times already this year, Payne finished 16th at Albany-Saratoga after he went off the track in Turn 2 while running in the top three.
Sears, meanwhile, finished 13th at Albany-Saratoga with a tire going down late in the race after contact on a restart.
Payne, from Hopewell, NY, is searching for his fourth career Series triumph, while Sears, from Hastings, NY, is aiming for his second.
Getting Back to Victory Lane: Along with Williamson, a few Super DIRTcar Series drivers are aiming to get back to Victory Lane at Georgetown.
That starts with 10-time Series champion Matt Sheppard, who earned his first victory of the season last Friday at Outlaw Speedway. The Savannah, NY driver is a five-time Feature winner at the Delaware racetrack, with his last win in August of 2024.
Another five-time Georgetown winner is Anthony Perrego, who’s aiming for his first Series victory since he won at Sharon Speedway last year. Like Sheppard, the Montgomery, NY driver hasn’t reached Victory Lane at Georgetown since 2024.
Outside of Payne’s Series win last November, Alex Yankowski is the most recent Series driver to win a Feature at Georgetown when he won on the opening night of Mid-Atlantic Championship weekend.
The driver in the field with the most victories at Georgetown, however, is Friesen, who’s won 12 times at the track. He’s aiming for his first win there since November 2024.
