Heartland Late Model Tour Comes to Life
WEST PLAINS, Mo.—This weekend ushers in a new beginning for Heartland Promotions, with the first two events for the new POWRi Mel Hambelton Racing Heartland Late Model Tour. Legit Speedway Park in West Plains, Missouri hosts events on both Friday and Saturday night. Each night will be a complete show with $3,000 for the winner and $400 to start.
A good field has already confirmed their intentions to compete this weekend. With a $40,000 point fund guaranteed, paying back ten positions, action will be intense all season long. $10,000 of the fund has been set aside for the inaugural champion.
“This weekend is the culmination of nearly a year’s worth of preparation and planning,” said Heartland Promotions Marketing Director and Co-Owner Trenton Berry. “It’s been a ton of effort to get this off the ground. However, with our event experience in the Modified world, we’re anything but new. Our group has been fond of Dirt Late Models for many years and this tour exists for the love of the sport!”
Supporting the Late Model action this weekend locally is Missouri Hardwoods and West Plains Resaw. Everyone with Heartland Promotions extends a huge thanks to those companies for their support of the event.
Local divisions will also be part of the event. Friday will find the Super Stocks, Factory Stocks and Legit Modifieds all in action. Saturday will be night two for the Super Stocks and also feature Sport Mods and Sportsman Late Models. Mayfield Auto Repair and A2Z Products will be sponsoring support class action. The Super Stocks will run for$750 to win Friday and $1,000 to win Saturday.
Tires are always a big topic of any Late Model race. For this weekend the tire rule consists of; Hoosier 3 on the left front, right front and left rear. The Hoosier 4 is the only option for the right rear. Pro 3 American Racers are permitted on the left front, right front and left rear. The Pro 4 is mandatory for the right rear. Tire brands may be mixed as long as the proper compound remains on the proper corner.
