RacinBoys President Scott Traylor passes at age 66

Kansas City, Mo.—RacinBoys founder Scott Traylor passed away early Sunday morning at the age of 66 following complications with dementia.   His racing and broadcasting career over the last several decades made him among the most recognized and impactful figures, not only in his hometown Kansas City, but also his travels around the country live streaming dirt track events including the ASCS and the Chili Bowl.

He also owned and drove race cars on both pavement and dirt.

Scott began racing a street stock on dirt at age 17 in 1977 at the old Lakeside Speedway, Topeka Raceway, and Savannah Speedway.   He also raced at Riverside Stadium.

Later, on pavement, Traylor raced sportsman late models, modifieds, ARCA, and super trucks at the new Lakeside and the old paved high-banked I-70 Speedway half mile.   He captured 30 feature event wins, including ten in his ultra-fast super truck.

From 2003 to 2006, Scott raced in six ARCA events at Kansas Speedway.   Clint Bowyer drove his ARCA car to a second-place finish at Nashville Superspeedway in 2003 and later, Carl Edwards drove his super truck to a World Cup victory at I-70 Speedway.   He retired from racing competition in 2010 to devote his full-time efforts to RacinBoys.

Scott began co-hosting a racing only show in Kansas City on Union Broadcasting’s KCTE 1510 in 1997 before launching a 27-year Saturday morning run on Sports Radio 810 WHB.

Over the years, Traylor further enhanced his broadcasting resume on television at Metro Sports as well as Channels 41 and 38 the Spot in Kansas City.
Just this February, he and the RacinBoys were inducted into the Central Auto Racing Boosters Hall of Fame.  He was the recipient of numerous other media awards through the years.

Celebration of Life arrangements are pending.

Scott is survived by his daughters Tori, Tristin Akin (Wes), grandson William and ex wife Sharon Traylor.
