Brett Moffitt wasn’t on the NASCAR sidelines for long.

On Thursday, Our Motorsports announced the former Gander Outdoors & RV Truck Series champion will focus on a full-time run behind the wheel of the No. 02 Chevrolet in the Xfinity Series next year.

The news comes on the heels of Fr8Auctions agreeing to sponsor Moffitt for four races in 2021.

“2020 was a learning year for the entire Our Motorsports operation and the program is now ready to step up to another level,” Moffitt said. “I’m thankful for the last two seasons with GMS Racing and the support Maury Gallagher, Spencer Gallagher, Ron Booth, Mike Beam and the entire team gave me.”

In his second season with GMS, Moffitt finished third behind the wheel of the No. 23 Silverado—his third full year on the truck tour. In addition to victory at Kansas Speedway last month, Moffitt amassed 10 top fives and 16 top 10s in 23 starts.

The 28-year-old Grimes, Iowa racer has 32-career Xfinity starts. He piloted the No. 02 Chevrolet in 29 of 33 races in 2020 enabling Our Motorsports to finish 15th in NXS owner points in its rookie season. Moffitt’s best result with the team was fifth at Talladega Superspeedway in June.

The achievements of the upstart squad are remarkable given the challenges of competing during a pandemic.

“Brett has been instrumental in helping us build this team from scratch and be competitive,” said Our Motorsports team owner Chris Our. “We’ve challenged each other to turn Our Motorsports into a race-winning organization and we have some exciting things in the works that will help us accomplish that goal together.”

The Statesville, N.C.-based operation will continue to campaign Chevys in 2021. Joe Williams, who was named as the team’s crew chief at the start of the 2020 season, will continue in his role.

“Our Motorsports has made great strides in 2020 and I’m really excited to carry that momentum into 2021 with Brett Moffitt behind the wheel,” said Williams. “Brett is the kind of driver that makes us better as an organization and I am confident in what we can accomplish together next year.”
