Ryan Newman will have a good reason to go nuts when the NASCAR returns to Nashville Superspeedway for the June 19-20 weekend.
Planters and the legendary Mr.Peanut will be featured as the primary sponsor on Newman’s No. 6 Roush Fenway Racing Ford Mustang when the Cup Series makes its debut at the 1.33-mile track in Lebanon, Tenn.
“PLANTERS and MR. PEANUT are looking forward to partnering with Ryan Newman and the Roush Fenway Racing team this season,” said Rafik Lawendy, Head of Marketing for Planters. “This may be the nuttiest car in NASCAR’s history, and with Newman at the wheel, it’s sure to go a nut above the competitors.”
Planters will serve as an associate for Newman’s livery at Circuit of the Americas, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Sonoma Raceway, and The All-Star Race at Texas Motor Speedway.
“We’re excited to team up with an iconic brand like PLANTERS, for what should be a good race weekend in Nashville,” said Hall of Fame team owner Jack Roush. “We’re looking forward to putting the No. 6 PLANTERS Ford on the track and it’s our hope and full intention to have MR. PEANUT up front and competing for the win at Nashville.”
After a decade of NASCAR, ARCA, and IndyCar, Nashville was dropped from NASCAR competition after 2011. Dover Motorsports, which owns and operates the track outside of Nashville, elected to move dates from the Monster Mile and host a tripleheader of Cup, Xfinity, and Camping World Truck Series.
Although Newman has yet to race at Nashville, NASCAR has scheduled practice and qualifying for Nashville’s coming out party.
