Randy Smith Jr Victorious Winning the Doyle Lance Memorial at US 36 Raceway

Osborn, MO —  Randy Smith Jr would set the pace early for a stellar IMCA/USRA Stock Car feature holding off all challengers on his way to his second victory of 2023. Smith Jr, #75 would win both heat race and feature but it wasn’t easy as Mike Nichols #63 would challenge to take the lead only to see his engine erupt in turn four taking him from contention. Matthew Lance #12X and Brad Derry #37D were big movers of the race nipping at Smith’s heels in the closing laps. Lance would try both high and low being beside and leading Smith Jr in the closing laps, but it was Smith that would prevail and claim the big check and feature win. Second place would belong to Lance with Derry and impressive third place showing. Heat race winner Mich Ross #34X would recover from an early race spin cycle to place fourth with Caleb Dennis #11D fast all night placing a solid and impressive top five. Other heat race winner was Carson Masoner #20 who was among the front runners until mechanical issues took him from competition.

IMCA Mod Lites would again see Dillon Raffurty #46 win both his heat and feature setting a blistering pace on the fast three eight’s mile of dirt. Nathan Wolfe #3 would win his heat race starting up but would see a Raffurty battle up front. Michael Raffurty #41 would lead early and do battle with a fast Justin Raffurty #75 for the lead only to see Dillon blow by and never look back capturing the win and parking in Nextran Truck Center Victory Lane. Michael Raffurty would place second with Justin Raffurty third. Fourth place would go to Jeff Raffurty #98 with Nathan Wolfe placing fifth on the night. Early leader was Garrett Stonum #4K until mechanical gremlins took him from contention.

E-Mods would promise a great feature as heat race winners Michael Hascall #31M, Logan Rash #2X and Coleman Browning would impress with side-by-side action in their perspective races. Logan Rash #2X and Michael Hascall were fast all feature challenging but the race came down to Coleman Browning #21K and Casey Burnett #23 who raced their entire heat side by side for the front. Burnett would make the right adjustments and take the front with Browning on his bumper as Blake Hayes #14H would battle Hascall and Josh Marshall #55J behind the leaders. Burnett would find the high line to his liking and park in Nextran Victory Lane collecting the big check and trophy. Browning would place second with Hayes a solid third. Fourth would see Hascall win the battle with Marshall as they rounded out the top five on the night.

Pure Stock always put on a great show for the fans and this night of competition would set a gold standard. Heat race winners Jake Starmer #11J and Anthony Whitham #26 would set the pace for the others to follow as Starmer took the early lead. Other heat race winner Alvie Christofferson #771 would make his presence felt challenging Starmer. Jake Starmer would lead until he would spin in front of the field and have to tag to the rear. On the restart, Tyler Starmer #11S and Alvie Christofferson would do battle for the front with Starmer taking the lead. Whitham and Christofferson would race fast and furious behind the leader for second with big movers of the feature Jeffrey Sears #13J and Jakub Hisel #27 duking it out for a podium finish. Tyler Starmer would pick up his fourth feature win at US 36 in 2023 and celebrate in Nextran Victory Lane. Christofferson would finish second with sears placing third in a hard-fought battle with Hisel and Whitham. Hisel would again impress running the extreme high line to place fourth with Jake Starmer recovering from his early race spin to round out the top five.

USRA B-Mod feature would see the battle of heat race winners up front from start to finish. Tyler Cadwallader #69ER and Truman Asher #73 would break away from the field and battle with Cadwallader taking the lead. Asher would fight back both high side and low side but Cadwallader would not be shaken or stirred holding onto the point. Tim Eaton #211, Chris Wright #66X and Stephen Clancy #12C would do battle behind the leaders exciting the large crowd of fans in attendance. Cadwallader would not be denied and claim the feature win with Asher second and Eaton third. Wright would out dual Clancy to place fourth leaving Clancy to place fifth.

IMCA RaceSaver Wing Sprints would see #75 Natalie Doney pick up a heat race win along with Jay Russel #76. Doney would take the early lead on the drop of the green flag with Cole Vanderheiden #15V chasing. Vanderheiden would slip by with Mike Houseman Jr #4L passing both on his familiar high line to take the front spot. Gunner Pike #25 was in win contention all feature battling the leaders. Current point leader Jay Russell was the big mover of the feature coming from a 12th place starting position to challenge for the lead in the closing laps. Houseman Jr would not be denied and pick up the feature win celebrating big in Nextran Victory Lane with Russell a close second and Pike third. Fourth place would go to the consistent Jacob Dye #20D with Vanderheiden fading slightly to place fifth.

Sport Compacts would be high in number and quality on this night of competition with heat race winner Samuel Moore sweeping the night. Rookie of the year contender Moore #9X, would pick up his second feature win of 2023 getting to the front early and never relinquishing the lead. Even contact with the front stretch wall could not deter his efforts as he enjoyed celebrating in Victory Lane. Jeremy Sims #5J would battle Landon Brown #66A and Franklin Reed #1F the entire feature making great entertainment for the fans. David Miller #1 was fast and in win contention until a mechanical issue took him from the race. Same situation for heat race winner Chris Hutt #R4T who would not finish the feature. Moore would get the victory; Sims would cross the line second with Brown’s best finish to date coming home third. Reed would have a solid night finishing fourth with Autumn Manley #39X showing poise and consistency in her first ever race at US 36 placing an impressive fifth.
