Shaw, Cadwallader, Kaplan shine at I-35 Speedway
Winston, MO — One hundred (100) cars checked in for Premier Lubricants and Johnson Mechanical Suicide Awareness Night at I-35 Speedway. Between collections in the pits and grandstands, and a generous donation by Sport Compact driver Lucas Winder, almost $3,000 was raised for suicide awareness. Mike Johnson prepared a great track for the drivers, and in return the drivers put on a great show for the fans.
E-mod points leader Adam Dunwoodie would have to start 14th in the feature after having a DNF in the heat race. But that didn’t stop Dunwoodie from picking up his 11th feature win of the season after a great side-by-side battle with Tony Layne. Layne led most of the feature event but would finish second. Aaron Jones would race his way to a third place finish, followed by Nathan Hampton and Mark Anderson as they would both have top fives finishing fourth and fifth.
Pure Stock points leader Jeffrey Sears would pick up his ninth feature win of the season as he held off a stout field of Pure Stocks that were racing for extra money courtesy of ASF Racing. Alvie Christofferson would race in the top five all race long as he finished second. Tyler Starmer would battle for the race lead early on as he finished third. Tyler Gray finished fourth, followed by the defending track champ, Ava Dixon, in fifth.
Tyler Cadwallader and Corey Myers would battle side-by-side in the closing laps of the USRA B-mod feature with Cadwallader picking up his sixth feature win of the season. Current points leader Myers would finish second. Jake Richards would race his way up to a third place finish. Followed by Clayton Stutesman and Coleman Browning who both looked strong finishing fourth and fifth.
In the Poweri Midwest Lightning Sprints, Trice Roden would win both heat races and his third feature win of the season. Jeff Bard would finish second with Kenny Bowers third. Defending series champion, Chasity Younger would finish fourth and Mike Tindell fifth.
In the Medieval USRA Stock Cars, Austin Kaplan would make his return to I-35 Speedway to pick up the feature win. Kaplan and track points leader Jeff Dixon would swap the lead back and forth in the closing laps, as Dixon finished second. After a violent roll Sunday night at the Northwest MO State Fait, Nic Hanes would get his car back together and race his way to a third place finish after starting 13th. Brandon Dixon would run in the top five all race long as he finished fourth. Doug Keller would round out the top five.
In the USRA Modifieds, Darren Shaw would his second feature win of the season breaking points leader Tyler Hibner’s four race win streak. Hibner would finish second. Kameron Grindstaff would return to I-35 Speedway and finish third, followed by Houston Johnson in fourth after a great side-by-side battle with Tyler Grooms who finished in fifth.
After post-race tech in the Sport Compacts, Elijah Hoyt would visit McCarthy Auto Group Victory Lane for the second time this season. Hoyt was followed by Hunter Throckmorton in second, Dakota Cox in third, Austin Ziegler in fourth and Laura Davis in fifth.
In the Junior Sport Compacts, points leader Payton Hanes would pick up her fifth feature win of the season. Coming to the checkered flag, Katelyn Flemming would slip past Maddy Barr for second. Barr would hold on for third with Autumn Manley finishing fourth.
Congratulations to fan of the week winner Addyson Miller sponsored by American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Ground Racing, Aaron Jones Racing, Waterbury Racing, JDB Racing Videography and Design, and Bud Wilson Racing Family.
