Lee Hibner, Isaacs, Dixon, Glendenning score victories at I-35 Speedway

Winston, MO —  One hundred and ten cars (110) checked in for Casey’s night at the races at I-35 Speedway. It was also fan appreciation night with free general admission sponsored by Larry McFee Trucking, Racin Dirt, Hwy 36 Auto and Diesel and the Johnson’s.

We started out in the E-Mods as George Burnett added another win to his career stats, his first victory of 2023. Tony Layne battled with Burnett through the race but had to settle for second, Chris Dishong has struggled at I-35 lately but would have a nice podium finish in third, points leader Adam Dunwoodie put himself in a hole in his heat race as he had to start tenth but would work his way up to a fourth place finish and Michael Hascall continues his quest to oust Dunwoodie out of the top spot as he finished right behind him in fifth.

In Pure Stock competition Jakub Hisel has been close many times to securing his first victory of the season. But as they say, close only counts in horseshoes and hand-grenades. Tonight, Hisel wouldn’t be denied as he cruised to his first win of 2023. Points leader Jeffrey Sears, after transmission issues in the heat race would race his way up to finish second after starting fourteenth. Rookie driver Bo Eads would win his heat race then proceed to have his best finish of the season in third, rookie Carter Johnson had his best finish as well finishing fourth and Devin Baker would also have his best finish of the season in fifth.

Paul Glendenning would use a nice move with lap traffic to squeeze by points leader and race leader Houston Johnson to pick up his third win of the season in the Midwest Limited Late Models. Johnson would finish second, Tommy Cordray came home third followed by Bobby Ryan and Jake Morris.

Lonnie Farley picked up his third win of the season in the Vintage Open series as he passed and then held off three-time feature winner Ron Lefholz. Ron would finish second with Allen Guthrie third, Mike Lefholz fourth and Steve Tanner fifth.

Stanley Kreisel picked up his second win of the season at I-35 Speedway in the Poweri Midwest Lighting Sprints. Jeff Bard would finish second, Mike Tindell third, the 2023 points champion Trice Roden would finish fourth and last season’s champion Chasity Younger was fifth.

By this time in the season Ethan Issacs usually has a few wins in the USRA B-Mods at I-35 Speedway, tonight Issacs would finally visit McCarthy Autogroup Victory Lane for the first time in 2023. Josh Barnes had a great night as he competed for victory finishing second, Lucas Issacs rebounded from an early spin to finish third, Chase Moulton had a good run in fourth and points leader Corey Myers came home fifth.

I-35 Speedway Medieval USRA Stock Car points leader Jeff Dixon changed the look of his car this week and parked it back in victory lane for the fourth time this season. Dixon had to get by leader Nic Hanes and Danny Holt to claim the victory then had to hold off Holt in the closing laps. Holt would finish second, Hanes third, Scott Brown came home fourth and Bill Carter had a good run in fifth.

Lee Hibner finally got his first USRA Modified win of 2023 as he held off a stout field of competition. At one point, Hibner would lose the lead to Houston Johnson only to gain it back and set sail. Darren Shaw gave chase to Hibner but finished second, Johnson would finish third followed by good runs in fourth for Tyler Grooms and fifth for Richard Layne.

Sport Compacts points leader Brad Mick held off Jonnathon Hartman in the closing laps to claim his eleventh victory of the season. Hartman would take the lead on the inside line as Mick would regain the lead on the outside in the closing laps. Hartman would finish second with Elijah Hoyt in the mix as well finishing third, Ryan Hinkle was fourth and Brad Aleshire fifth.

Grant Sheetz has been close to victory many times this season, but tonight would finally park his Jr Sport Compact in victory Lane for the first time in his career. Points leader Payton Hanes and Maddy Barr traded the lead back-and-forth until Sheetz made his move. Hanes would finish second with Barr in third, Katelynn Fleming came home fourth and Autumn Manley was fifth.
