TULSA, Okla. — Ryan Timms would hold off all charges for the front after leading fifty-four of fifty-five laps to earn the feature win at Port City Raceway in Tulsa Oklahoma with the POWRi National and West Midget League running in conjunction with the Xtreme Outlaw Midget Series presented by Toyota, in the Donnie Ray Crawford Sooner State 55-lap feature event to capture his fourth career league victory while pocketing the $5,555 payday.

Early on-track excitement with thirty-two entries the POWRi National and West Midget Leagues/Xtreme Outlaw Midgets would find Chase McDermand start the action off with a quick-time in group qualifying sessions of 9.525-second lap as Gunnar Setser, Cannon McIntosh, Daison Pursley, and Chase McDermand each would notch heat racing wins as Gavin Miller earned the semi-feature victory.

Forming the feature field would find high-point qualifier Chase McDermand roll an invert of six to make Trey Marcham and Ryan Timms the front row grid as the green flag flew with Trey Marcham gaining the initial advantage on the opening laps over Ryan Timms, Gunnar Setser, Daison Pursley, and Jade Avedisian all battling inside the top five.

Overtaking for the lead on lap two would find previous night's winner Ryan Timms shoot to the front of the field with a slide-job through turns one and two over Trey Marcham with Daison Pursley and Gunnar Setser battling for the final podium placement as Gavin Miller moved into the top five with lap traffic quickly coming into play.

Cruising to a comfortable second-and-a-half advantage with the laps ticking away at a rapid rate with Ryan Timms setting the pace out front, Trey Marcham would hold steady in the runner-up positioning with Gavin Miller moving into third as Daison Pursley and Gunnar Setser attempted to stay within striking distance.

Hitting the halfway point with Ryan Timms setting a blistering pace out front while dealing with a constant stream of lap traffic, Timms would establish nearly a five-second racing advantage in the front of the field as Gavin Miller and Trey Marcham battled in second just before contact would causing Gavin Miller to stop off turn four issuing the first caution of the feature since the initial start on lap thirty-three.

Restarting single file with the field bunched behind the pacesetter would find Timms once again catapulting to a commanding lead with Daison Pursley pursuing in second with Trey Marcham maintaining in third as well and Zach Daum and Gunnar Setser rounding out the top five.

Separating from the field would find the top two put on a dazzling display of driving between Ryan Timms and Daison Pursley with ten laps remaining while bearing down on lap traffic with Timms protecting the top spot in a thrilling final few laps with caution displayed with five laps remaining.

Adding dramatics to the late-race theatrics while restarting with five laps remaining would find Ryan Timms holding steading at the front of the field to earn his second straight feature win of 2023 with the POWRi National and West Midget League, running in conjunction with the Xtreme Outlaw Midgets, as Zach Daum would move into the runner-up finishing position in the late-race restart with Gunnar Setser impressively finalizing the podium placements as the double-checkered flags waved on the fifty-five lap dedication event.

“Me and Daison have grown up racing together doing the same things, I’m not exactly proud of how it happened but this is part of racing. I’m not saying he had it coming but I’m not upset about winning either,” said Ryan Timms in the Port City Raceway victory lane celebrations. Adding, “I knew the bottom was going to be there after watching the Micro feature but the top seemed to have more speed for fifty-five laps.”

Driving past ten other competitors would find Karter Sarff finishing fourth as Ace McCarthy rounded out the POWRi National and West Midget League, running in conjunction with Xtreme Outlaw Midget Series, top-five finishers at Port City Raceway running in the Donnie Ray Crawford Sooner State 55.
