OCRS point title on the line this weekend

TULSA, Okla. — Only two events remain on the 2023 AmeriFlex Hose & Accessories OCRS Sprint Car schedule and the points championship is on the line this weekend starting Friday at Thunderbird Speedway.

Johnny Kent and Danny Wood have been battling over the points lead most of the season and Kent will have to protect a 23 point lead over Wood to earn the title. Joe Bob Lee in third and Sheldon Barksdale in fourth are still mathematically in the points battle.

It all begins Friday at the Hayden Ross Memorial on the Thunderbird Speedway half-mile. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. with hot laps set for 7 and racing at 7:30. Driver draw is 5:30-6 followed by a drivers meeting at 6:15.

The season comes to a close at Caney Valley Speedway on Saturday where the 2023 AmeriFlex OCRS champion will be crowned. In three previous visits to Caney quarter-mile Zach Chappell, Alex Sewell and Blake Edwards have logged victories.

Race time has been moved up to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Pits open at 2

Pit gates open at 4 p.m. Driver draw is 3-3:30, drivers meeting 4, hot laps are scheduled for 4:30.

USRA B-Mods will race for $1,000-to-win, $200-to-start. USRA Tuners, Factory Stocks and Pure Stocks will also be racing Saturday at Caney.

Adult admission is $15, $10 senior, $5 5-12, 4 and under FREE. Pitt passes $35.
