200 plus Drivers Entered For Castrol Gateway Dirt Nationals
ST. LOUIS, Mo. — If you build it, they will come. No truer words have ever been said when it comes to the Castrol Gateway Dirt Nationals.
The one-of-a-kind spectacle created in 2016 by event promoter Cody Sommer enters its seventh running next week with another enormous field of Super Late Models en route to The Dome at America's Center in St. Louis. This year's Late Model field features a whopping 143 drivers pre-entered for the event.
Once again, driver registration was closed early this year due to the limited amount of space to park race cars inside The Dome. Between the 143 Dirt Late Models and 60 Modifieds, there will be over 200 cars parked inside the former home of the NFL's St. Louis Rams.
Both divisions have been broken up into split fields for preliminary nights on Thursday, December 14 and Friday, December 15 before the main event takes place on Saturday, December 16.
This year's Castrol Gateway Dirt Nationals entry list is not only big in size; it's also filled with star power from the Dirt Late Model world and beyond.
2023 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series champion Hudson O'Neal and 2023 World of Outlaws Late Model Series champion Bobby Pierce will both be competing in the event.
Fresh off his career season with 33 wins, Ricky Thornton, Jr. will be pulling double-duty in both the Super Late Model and Modified divisions. "The Newport Nightmare" Jimmy Owens joins RTJ as two of the drivers racing in both divisions.
Dirt Track World Championship winner Brandon Sheppard, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series runner-up Devin Moran, World of Outlaws Late Model winner Nick Hoffman and "Hunt The Front" star Joseph Joiner have also filed entries.
Defending Castrol Gateway Dirt Nationals winner Tyler Erb will return to The Dome looking to back up his emotional victory from one year ago.
And of course, you can't mention the Gateway Dirt Nationals without mentioning two-time race winner Tyler Carpenter. The West Virginia native returns to his favorite event of the year seeking a third win at The Dome.
NASCAR Cup Series driver Carson Hocevar, who will begin a full-time campaign with Spire Motorsports in 2024, will return to Gateway for a second straight year after an impressive 12th-place finish in the main event last year.
The Modified entry list is also filled with star power this year as "The Mayor" of St. Louis Kenny Wallace returns to the event alongside Modified stars like Mike Harrison, Ray Bollinger, Tyler Nicely and Charlie Mefford. NASCAR Cup Series driver Justin Haley will also be competing in this year's Modified race.
All three days of the 2023 Castrol Gateway Dirt Nationals will be streamed live on FloRacing. If you're not already a subscriber, click here to sign up today.
