Legendary Ohio Sprint Car racer Rick Ferkel has passed
Rick Ferkel, also known as “The Ohio Traveler,” and member of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame has died at 84.
Ferkel was born in Green Springs, Ohio and was one of the first “outlaw” sprint car drivers. During his driving career, Ferkel, who spent the majority of his life in the nearby Ohio towns of Findlay and Tiffin, amassed almost 400 sprint car victories. Because of his affable personality, Ferkel was always a fan favorite and was well-known for traveling to any location across the nation where there was a “big” money show.
